“See how he spreads the lightning around him.... by these mighty acts he nourishes the people, giving them food in abundance." (Job 36:30-31)
From the oldest book in the Bible comes that which in today’s scientific jargon is known as “nitrogen fixation”.
“The extreme heat of a lightning flash causes nitrogen to combine with oxygen of the air to form nitrogen oxides. The oxides combine with moisture in the air. The fixed nitrogen is carried by rain to the earth, where, in the form of nitrates, it is used by plants. Nitrogen fixation occurs naturally in the air by means of lightning.”
